2018 Workshop Proposal Submission Form

Are you inspired to help others find wisdom? Do you have a gift for workshop leadership?

At SDI, we celebrate diversity. We believe that when it comes to spirituality – and spiritual direction -- we all receive and reflect light in our own individual ways.

So ….

We want those of you who enjoy leading workshops to help us at the Spiritual Directors International 2018 Seeking Connection Conference, April 26-29, 2018 in St Louis, Missouri, USA.

Here’s how you can do it:

  • Develop a proposal that embodies the conference theme of "Seeking Connection Through Diversity."
  • Choose any workshop subject as long as it conveys the powerful healing potential of celebrating our differences and our interdependence. Tolerance and inclusion are mutually reinforcing. And community grows best alongside respect for the dignity of each individual's spiritual journey. Together, we will explore ways in which spiritual direction supports both community and diversity.

Workshops will be offered Friday and Saturday, April 27–28, 2018, in either 90 minute or 3-hour formats.

The workshop submission deadline is 4:00 p.m. Pacific Time on Monday, 7 August 2017.

To prepare for your workshop proposal, please follow these steps:

  1. Thoroughly review the 2017 workshops and presenters to understand expectations of style and brevity of presenter biographies and workshop descriptions.
  2. Download and review the submission guidelines before completing the submission form. Workshop proposals will not be reviewed if guidelines are not followed.
  3. Invite someone to proofread your proposal after he or she has reviewed the submission guidelines.
  4. Consider the educational and experiential needs of the workshop participant. As someone who offers spiritual care, what would you appreciate most in a workshop? Incorporate your experience in past conferences into the wisdom you propose to share in St. Louis.

Before you begin, please remember that you will give your proposal the best chance of success by reviewing the submission guidelines before completing this form.

Spiritual Directors International values creating a culturally, generationally, and spiritually diverse group of workshop presenters.

Required fields are marked with an asterisk (*).

The workshop submission deadline is 4:00 p.m. Pacific Time on Monday, 7 August 2017.

If applicable.

Workshop Information

Conference Theme: Seeking Connection

Fragmentation characterizes much of our global experience. Political and religious ideologies divide. Separation from nature threatens human survival on our planet. Lack of a spiritual center leaves many living a divided existence.

During the 2018 Seeking Connection educational events, we will acknowledge the powerful healing potential of recognizing and celebrating our interdependence with community, creation, and the Divine. Together, we will explore ways in which spiritual direction supports the formation of these healing and transforming connections.
