Men’s Institute

Spiritual Wholeness in Male Identity
Thursday, 20 April 2017
9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.

The Men’s Institute provides a safe space for men to meet with other men to explore the unique issues of masculine spirituality and how best to provide spiritual care to men. It is designed as a time for men to meet separately from women to deepen their own self-understanding and ways of relating and healing.

The 2017 Men’s Institute serves to continue the development of a community of men within the larger community of spiritual directors. This year’s institute provides contemplative and conversational experiences by inviting men to:

  • reflect on how their sense of masculinity and sexuality has been shaped by religious, spiritual, and cultural traditions; and,
  • how we can mentor men in fostering healthy male identity in their spiritual journey.

Our intent and our hope is that participants will leave the institute with an enhanced understanding of positive male identity that can be applied to their work in spiritual direction. This year’s institute will be enriched by Imam Jamal Rahman, Rabbi Ted Falcon, and Pastor Don Mackenzie, affectionately known as the Interfaith Amigos, who will participate with us and share their wisdom and experience from their faith traditions.
