Sister Mary Ann Scofield, RSM, founding member and first Executive Director of Spiritual Directors International presents the beginning inspiration for Spiritual Directors International. Founding Coordinating Council members Lucy Abbott-Tucker, Dr. Janet Ruffing, RSM, and The Rev. Donald Schell respond with stories of early development.

 



Dr. Alexander J. Shaia
, faculty member, conference and retreat presenter. Ritualist, passionate public speaker, psychotherapist, and spiritual director. With the publication of The Hidden Power of the Gospels: Four Questions, Four Paths, One Journey, his time is devoted to speaking about the universal quadratos sequence in the four traditional Christian gospels.


 
Brother David Steindl-Rast, OSB, recipient of the Martin Buber Award for his achievements in building bridges between religious traditions. His books Gratefulness, The Heart of Prayer, and A Listening Heart have been reprinted and anthologized for decades. He serves a Network of Grateful Living through a Web site with several thousand participants from more than 240 countries.



 
Dr. Brian Swimme, internationally known mathematical cosmologist. Graduate faculty of the California Institute of Integral Studies in San Francisco, California, USA. Scientific perspective and understanding enhance his awe of the Source of Life with palpable appreciation in his presentations. His central concern is the role of the human within the larger earth community.

 


Rev. Jane E. Vennard,
United Church of Christ, spiritual director for more than twenty years. Senior Adjunct faculty of prayer and spirituality at Iliff School of Theology in Denver, Colorado, USA. She teaches and leads retreats in international ecumenical settings, and is author of six books including her most recent, The Way of Prayer.


Conference Spiritual Director
Sally Taylor, Tibetan Buddhist practitioner living in Northern Ireland, involved in Buddhist charitable efforts in five countries. Sally will listen to the insights offered in plenary sessions, workshops and informal gatherings each day, weaving together the strands of the spiritual and theological journey that the conference as a whole embodies.
