Kathleen McAlpin, RSM, and Matthew Linn, SJ, delve into forgiveness, the restorative process, and spiritual companionship.
Kathleen McAlpin, RSM, is the chair of the SDI coordinating council. McAlpin has experience forming both spiritual directors and supervisors at universities in Canada and throughout the USA. She views the role of spiritual direction as central to nurturing community. In her own words, “If all peoples of this planet were spiritually attuned to the Sacred, all would tend the Holy, and our gifts would be shared communally.” McAlpin serves as a theology teacher and spiritual director with Mercy Spiritual Ministries of the Mid-Atlantic Sisters of Mercy.
Matthew Linn, SJ, has focused on integrating physical, emotional, and spiritual healing. He is a member of the Association of Christian Therapists with advanced graduate degrees in sociology, anthropology, spirituality, and theology. Since 1970, Linn has given courses and retreats in over sixty countries from the USA to Australia. Ordained in 1973, he currently lives in a Jesuit community in Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA, where he trains spiritual directors at Sacred Ground and serves on the editorial board of Presence: An International Journal of Spiritual Direction. For twelve years, Linn was privileged to live among the Lakota (Sioux) and team taught Lakota (Sioux language) and culture.
