Workshop Proposal Submission Process

Format: Proposals must be submitted online using the workshop submission form (closed After May 28th, 2010).  Please read the instructions carefully before submitting your proposal. Prepare your workshop proposal materials before beginning the submission process.

This is a two step process:

Step 1. Complete the online form by May 28th, 2010.

Fill out one form for each proposal you submit.  Please carefully review your answers before you click 'Send.'

Step 2. E-mail your proposal to events@sdiworld.org.  Attach three separate files to your e-mail to the event committee:

1) the 1000 word maximum proposal (Word file)
2) brochure workshop description (60 words) and brief bio (30 words) (Word file)
3) digital photo (jpg format; at least 1 MB in size.)

File 1. Proposals must not exceed 1000 words, must not exceed two pages, and must include the following:

  • title
  • content
  • desired outcome
  • your background and qualifications
  • describe how you will inform others interested in your work and ministry about the  event. (Ideas: post information on your Web site, send event details and a link to Spiritual Directors International Web site via e-mail to your e-mail list; provide an excel mailing list to Spiritual Directors International so your contacts can receive event brochures, etc.)

NOTE: If you plan on using PowerPoint or other presentations that requires a computer and LCD projector please plan on providing this equipment yourself. Our budget does not include this expense.

File 2. Brochure Workshop Description. Summarize the content in a workshop description (60 word maximum) and include a brief presenter bio (30 word maximum including academic/religious titles, city and country where you live).  Click here to review the previous year's workshop descriptions which will offer you guidance.

File 3
. Digital Photo
in a jpg format; at least 1 MB in size.

Proposals that do not include the required information or are not submitted in the format described will be returned.

Anyone interested in the ministry of spiritual companionship is welcome to join Spiritual Directors International. We are a multifaith, multicultural learning community committed to listening with compassion. We are not a professional organization. We prefer that people attend a conference first because we are a prayerful, contemplative community and not your usual academic conference.

If, after carefully reading these instructions, you still have questions or concerns about the proposal process, contact the Events Coordinator:
