SDI Multi-faith Pilgrimage
Monday, 11 April 2016
8:30 a.m.–6:00 p.m.
Spend a day exploring two sacred sites in the San Diego area. Leaving the Town and Country Resort Hotel at 8:30 a.m., we will journey north to Mission San Juan Capistrano, an active mission in California for 230 years. Although founded in the Catholic tradition, the mission itself brings a sense of peace and deep spirituality to visitors of all faith traditions. The Mission San Juan Capistrano is one of the most historically significant sites in the United States, visited by millions. For more about Mission San Juan Capistrano and its history and beauty, visit the mission website.
We will stop for a midday meal across the street from this mission at the Cedar Creek Inn.
Our second stop will be the Self Realization Temple in Encinitas, California. The Self Realization Temple is part of a worldwide religious organization headquartered in Los Angeles. The founder, Paramahansa Yogananda, shares that the society seeks to foster a spirit of greater understanding and goodwill among the diverse peoples and religions of our global family. Yogananda also says they seek to help those of all cultures and nationalities to realize and express more fully in their lives the beauty, nobility, and divinity of the human spirit. In accord with its founder’s wishes, the work of Self-Realization Fellowship is guided by the monastic order that Paramahansaji established along the lines of the ancient swami tradition of India. Our visit will include a tour of the beautiful grounds, temple, and meditation center. To learn more, visit the Self Realization Temple website.
The pilgrimage has transportation options for individuals with mobility concerns that will keep walking to a minimum. If you can readily get into and out of a bus or van, you will be able to fully participate in the pilgrimage. If you have further questions or concerns, please contact email@example.com.
We will return to the Town and Country Resort Hotel by 5:00 p.m., refreshed and nourished by the wisdom of northern California.
