Free Conference Call - Nurturing the Soul of the Spiritual Companion During Turbulent Times
PLEASE NOTE: This call will be a sacred listening circle, not a political debate or dialogue. It will be a space for spiritual directors to share what is coming up for you as you are holding space for others during this unsettling time.
During particularly turbulent political times such as these, spiritual companions hold tenderly the suffering of the world and of our directees. We bear witness to the pain and grief of others in the presence of the Sacred Beloved. Many of us also serve communities and provide care to other caregivers, clergy, healers, artists and activists.
At this moment in our world, it is critically important for spiritual directors to connect and to listen generously, to replenish ourselves and each other. As soul care practitioners and spiritually committed people, how do we stay present when the world around us is burning? When we do pay attention, how do we not get consumed by the fire? And how do we, in the midst of that burning, see God in the middle of it?
SDI Coordinating Council Members Cynthia Bailey Manns and Ravi Verma and Spiritual Companion and Retreat Leader Karen Erlichman have been meeting by phone regularly for several years to support each other this way. At this political moment in our shared lives, we feel called to include other spiritual directors in this sanctuary of support.
